Introduction

In the realm of Islamic spiritual healing, Ruqyah Shariah holds a significant place. Derived from the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah (traditions) of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Ruqyah Shariah is an ancient Islamic practise used to seek remedy and protection from various spiritual and physical ailments. This blog post aims to provide a comprehensive overview of Ruqyah Shariah, its principles, methods, and significance in the Islamic faith.

1. Understanding Ruqyah Shariah

Ruqyah Shariah refers to the recitation of specific verses from the Holy Quran and the employment of supplications and invocations prescribed in Islamic tradition to heal and protect individuals from afflictions caused by evil spirits, black magic, and other supernatural sources [1]. It is firmly rooted in Islamic theology and emphasises the belief in the power of the Quran to heal and protect.

2. Principles of Ruqyah Shariah

a. Quranic Verses: The recitation of specific verses from the Holy Quran forms the core of Ruqyah Shariah. These verses are believed to possess spiritual healing properties and are recited with the intention of seeking protection and recovery [1].

b. Tawakkul (Reliance on Allah): Ruqyah Shariah places great emphasis on placing one's trust and reliance solely on Allah (God). It acknowledges that ultimate healing comes from Allah alone, and the role of the practitioner is to act as a means through which this healing can be facilitated [2].

3. Methods and Techniques of Ruqyah Shariah

a. Recitation and Listening: The practitioner recites the relevant Quranic verses and supplications while the affected person listens attentively. The recitation can be performed audibly or silently, depending on the situation and the preferences of the practitioner [3].

b. Cupping (Hijama): In certain cases, Ruqyah Shariah may involve the use of cupping, an ancient technique in which suction is applied to specific points on the body to draw out impurities believed to be causing the affliction. Cupping is considered a beneficial complementary therapy to Ruqyah, as it helps in detoxification and improves the overall well-being of the individual [4].

4. Significance of Ruqyah Shariah in the Islamic Faith

Ruqyah Shariah holds great significance in Islamic teachings and traditions. It serves as a means to seek spiritual and physical healing, strengthening the individual's faith in Allah and reliance on His divine power. The practise is firmly grounded in the belief that the Quran is a source of guidance, mercy, and healing for humanity [5].

Conclusion

Ruqyah Shariah, an ancient Islamic healing practise, provides solace and relief to individuals suffering from various afflictions. With its foundation in the Holy Quran and the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), it offers a holistic approach to healing, combining spiritual and physical elements. The practise serves as a powerful reminder of the significance of faith, trust in Allah, and the healing power of the Quran in the lives of Muslims.
